My wife has a 2007 Camry CE, 4 cyl. 5 speed. Lately it has developed a grinding noise coming from somewhere near the alternator or A/C pump. I tried to pinpoint it with the redneck stethoscope (stick) and it seems to be loudest at the alternator. However I can't get to whatever that pump looking device is in the back near the firewall. Is that the power steering pump?
I had another mechanic suggest the water pump. I can't even find the water pump, I looked for a repair manual at the parts store but they didn't have one.
