Hi all! I'm visiting my grandparents in Florida, and they asked me about this beeping they're getting from their '02 XLE 4cyl. They said it's a double-beep, that from how they described it, sounds like a seat-belt warning would sound. But they said it happens every 5 minutes, even when their belts are buckled. There doesn't seem to be any correlation with speed, and it doesn't happen all the time.

They've asked at the Toyota dealer, but were told it's no big deal. Even if it doesn't mean anything's wrong, it's bugging them. I'd be annoyed too. I'm going to take it for a drive today to try to hear the beep. I might also go with them to the dealer to ask again.

The only double-beep sound I know of in any '02 Camry is the door unlock sound when you hit the the button on the remote to open your doors. Maybe the remote is defective, or the door locks are catching a signal from someone else's Toyota remote.
