Default Maintanance Required light

hey guys, just a random question, the maintanence required light turned on in my '05 but i dont think anything is wrong, because i think im due for an oil change. so I began researching and found out that there really is nothing "terribly" wrong and that its just a way for people to go and spend money trying to "fix" that problem (i.e. dealers or mechanics trying to include rotating tires or changing the trans. fluid). based on forum response online, people say it indicates an oil change or something similar. so i was wondering has this happen to you guys at all? and are the other forums true?

The light is just a reminder for maintenance, based on odometer reading and nothing else.

See threads below for how to reset the light.
