i've had a 1998 camry and for the last 2 years the remote has been a little iffy.

you hit the unlock button sometimes it chrips the horn sometimes it doesn't.

I didn't really care, as long as it locked or unlcoked, who needs the whole multi-media
presentation?

but last night i went to hit it and nothing. zip, the console red flasher kept going i used the key to
open the door and used the ignition double switch to turn off the honking alarm condition.

now the thing is working again, but, does anyone have a clue on why this is occuring?

got any diagnostics i can run?

 

Might check the remote battery or the switch contacts in the remote could be dirty.

 

i doubt its'the remote as my GF's remote wasn't working that day either
and they both work now
