Default Signal blinker blinks fast all of a sudden? What it mean?

I drive a 1998/1999 Camry le v6.

I am wondering why my blinker blinks fast (not sure if the lights outside is blinking fast when I signal though because I haven't checked).

It use to be only my right blinker that goes fast, but now both of the left and right signal blinks fast.

Is this a warning or something? Is my car trying to tell me to fix my headlights or what?

Thanks

normally it's an indicator that a blinker bulb is burned out. With a burned out bulb, there is less resistance in the wiring, thus the remaining bulb(s) get the electrical pulse quicker.

Check put your hazards on and check all the bulbs around your car. If they are all good, then a device called a flasher is probably bad. That device regulates the rate at which the electrical pulses get sent. It's located, normally, in the vicinity on the interior fuse box.

Hmm. None of this will become a problem for my car in the long run though right?

It's been blinking fast for 1 year now

Well, there is a problem somewhere in the system. It will fail eventually, that's enivitable. And if everything check out, i.e. the bulbs and the flasher, it COULD be the hazard switch itself too.

Normally if a hazard switch fails (or a flasher too) the blinkers won't work at all.

These are all cheap parts, so I suggest to try to fix it.

Sometimes when you put aftermarket bulbs in the blinkers it will make it go faster, because the computer doesnt see the same resistance from the bulb as it did with the factory bulb. I put clear piaa blinkers in mine and it blinks a little slower. But it shouldnt cause any problems

Before you check all of the wireing just buy some new bulbs and try them out. I have sliver star bulbs and they act fine but I had crap bulbs and the resistance was not right.
