I have a '98 camry four cylindar 5-speed. I have an intermittent problem. Most of the time, but not all, i will get a smell like burnt clutch, or electrical and it will happen when I am driving or just sitting still and idling. The smell is coming from under the hood and can stink really bad or sometimes i can barely smell it. I can just start it up and let it sit and it will make it sometimes. My car never over heats and i have check all my fluids and I am almost positive its nothing leaking. I have done all the work on this car so if someone could give me a tip with this problem it would be great. I don't want to take it in.

Did you recently get anything electrical installed? - if you did; go check that out. If not- i wouldn't have a second thought about bringing it to a respectable mechanic (NOT DEALERSHIP) because its electrical- and electrical wires in todays cars scares the bajeezes out ov me.

- you know; sometimes ur local toyota technician will put up an ad. on craigslist; might wanna check that out too as another option. good luck!
