I recently purchased my sister's 2002 Camry SE, and noticed that the GPSis in dire need ofupdating.The owner manual indicated that I would have to contact the dealership.The dealershipquoted me $250.00 for the software update. Is there anaftermarket for this item? Thanks

 

if it a factory GPS/Navi then i dont think so. but you can try ebay to see if someone has it for cheap. =D

 

Well I don't know but I'll throw some ideas out.
It might be somehow connected to the engine computer and you might be able to update the firmware/software through the OBD II, but it'd be a pain in the *** nevertheless.
Somewhere in the dash there HAS to be a connector for the GPS so that you can update it from time to time, you just gotta find it. If I were you I'd google around a bit and see what's up.
